The prestigious award was given to two students for the first time

  • Each year, the President of India Gold Medal is given to the student with the highest academic performance.
  • “It was a tie.  We have some rules for a tie-breaker also but we thought that since both of them had worked equally hard both should get the award.  It was a special gesture from the board of governors,” said the Institute’s director P P Chakrabarti.
  • He said it was the first time they decided to give the award to two students.
