President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday signed an order that allows state boards to skip the uniform medical entrance examination, NEET , for a year.
The President had sought more information and clarification on few points from the Health Ministry over the decision to bring an ordinance.
Earlier on Monday, Union Health Minister JP Nadda briefed Mukherjee on the need to clear the ordinance, elaborating on issues like different exams of state boards, syllabi and regional languages.
More than 15 States were opposed to NEET and had raised issues like different syllabus and languages during the recent State Health Ministers’ meeting.
