The State is now home to two globally recognised technical institutions – the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and Anna University – a fact confirmed by World QS ranking.
While IIT-M has been ranked 43, Anna University has moved from the 300 plus band to 251-300 band.
Almost all the old IITs have made it to the table with the Indian Institute of Science being placed at 33rd rank. The IIT-Bombay and IIT-Delhi are ahead of IIT-Madras.
Anna University, which has around 600 colleges under its ambit and which has moved up to the 251-300 range, has an additional feather in its cap.
The University’s reputation among employers is rated at 68.1 per cent, giving it an edge. On the ranking by faculty, it is placed at 293rd place.
