Schools in TN, increases fees by 10% from this academic year and the staff members of School management justifies, this hike is to compensate for salary increments for the teaching (at least 60% of fees goes towards salaries) and other staff, cost of maintenance including the lab equipment/computers, cost of labour, conveyance, infrastructure and building cost.

Many schools in the city intimate that every year they have to hike the tuition fee by 10% and parents can’t complain about this, because they want their wards to have a good education.  Though it’s a financial burden on each parent, they ignore this hike on the plea, that they need to have their child, the best education.  Many parents of popular CBSE schools agree with hike in fee is to pay to teachers, provide additional study material, organise many activities, purchase of components to class rooms and improved environment etc.

CBSE schools were also cheered by the recent Supreme Court order that excluded most of CBSE and ICSE schools from the ambit of Private schools and left the fee fixing power to the individual schools.  The School private fee fixation committee ignores many aspects of expenditure incurred by the many schools and insists only 10% hike, whereas this is not applicable to many schools, which are already charging between 10-50%, more than the recommended fee.
