Goa University (GU) executive council has granted its affiliation to the first course in Goa under the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) community college scheme.

The advanced diploma in agriculture at Savoi Verem-based Ramanata Crisna Pai Raikar Education Society’s School of Agriculture has been granted affiliation by GU, effective from the academic year 2016-17.

The affiliation, under the community college scheme, means that students pursuing the course can exit the course at various stages and depending on the number of semesters they have completed will be granted either a certificate, a diploma or an advanced diploma in agriculture.

The purpose of offering courses under the community college scheme is to offer flexible timings so that even those already employed can join to gain mobility in their career.

The objective is to make higher education relevant to the learner and the community, and to integrate relevant skills into the higher education system.
