Welcoming the draft of the New Education Policy (NEP) which laid stress on Sanskrit and yoga, the former Vice Chancellor of Anna University and Director, Commonwealth Science and Technology Academy for Research, A. Kalanidhi, hoped that the committee involved in drafting the policy would also consider implementing Tamil as it was also one of the ancient languages.
He was addressing an interactive programme on the National Education Policy organised jointly by the Vidya Bharati, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, National Thinkers Forum and the Commonwealth Science academy.
“The inclusion of value education as stated in the policy is a welcome move. Institutions these days need to equip their students with such life skills,” Mr. Kalanidhi added.
The organisers of the seminar said that it was organised with an aim to make more people aware of the draft NEP and send in their inputs before the September 15 deadline that the Ministry of Human Resources and Development had announced.
